Since Our Breaking Out of the Hospital

I don't remember precisely which day we came home from the hospital, I believe it may have been the 4th of August (it was a Monday).  A week or so post transplant I think is when we went to the Creedence Clearwater Revival Concert (that's definitely a no-no, but we are glad we did). Less than two weeks being home from the hospital, we endeavored on a trip to Treasure Island to watch Oliver (the brother in law) play rugby.  What a great trip it was, though a bit overzealous for Tom.  He was okay though after a couple of days of recouping.

I stumbled across the unfinished stuff up top there.... Guess I'll just go from there.

September we went to Aftershock Music Festival (It's a rock music deal).  Again, pushing the envelope as it as a rather large crowd and with California's drought it was a bit of a dustbowl. We only went for one day though because Tom hadn't fully bounced back yet and we knew he could only do a couple of hours really, but it was well worth it.

October we did a baby shower for my sister and we attended Pearl and Anthony's Halloween party which was awesome.  November we had Madalynne for a few days and Uncle Tom did a good job babysitting and then we had a Friendsgiving party on the Saturday which meant a lot to Tom (and myself of course).  It was really good.  What else... December was busy... we had Tom's mom and Grandma for a week and a half or so and had Lily for a few days, we celebrated Christmas on the Sunday before with Tom's family, went to mass and had a delicious pork loin dinner on Christmas Day, and then did Christmas the Saturday after with my family.  We welcomed our first nephew the Saturday before Christmas and he is adorable!

New Year's we rang in with our friend's Teri and Scott at their new place in Chico so that was low key, but super enjoyable.  Now we find ourselves back in the hospital because Tom has relapsed six months post transplant.   Anyhoo, chins up eh.  I think we've done well to make the most of the six months we had though.  We've tried new restaurants, fell in love with sushi (late to join the bandwagon but I think we're driving it now), made trivia night a Tuesday tradition with our friends Jenny, Chris, Jordyn, and their mom Janet.  We haven't won yet, but we have literally been 1/2 a point within third.

Here's hoping that this blog will be filled in the coming years with more adventures as Tom is cured.

To Start

Where to start?  My name is Laura, my husband is Tom, and we have a character of a dog named Izzy.  You can find a photo of each of us to the right. We've just celebrated our third wedding anniversary and we've probably ticked every box in our vows in that time.  Since we've been married we've both finished our bachelor's degree, started new jobs, fought the battle of leukemia (still fighting), and we've moved three times.  This March we bought our first home together so I anticipate this blog will consist of a lot of home improvement notes.

On the leukemia note: A week after our first wedding anniversary, Tom was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) so we've seen him through countless (literally) rounds of chemo and now two bone marrow transplants (now referred to as "stem cell transplants").  We keep another blog, The Leukemia Log which has followed the journey through that.  I felt like we should also have a blog that just follows things non-leukemia related which I suppose would be much more light hearted.

Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by. :)
